York’s Cycle Heaven is a masterly bicycle repair and retail business, spread across three locations – with the flagship store based in a military hospital on Hospital Fields Road, plus a smaller iteration at York station, and another at the Angel on the Green café-bar. Launched in 1993, it covers everything when it comes to bike fitting, repair and services, and much more besides.

The largest cycle store in York and in North Yorkshire, Cycle Heaven sells all manner of bikes, from children’s starter bikes to professional mountain bikes via power-assisted e-bikes, plus any related tool or accessory you could think of – and several you might not have. If you or your children are looking to get into cycling, the friendly staff at this independent enthusiast’s business will be happy to tell you exactly what’s what, without a hard sell.

Meanwhile, if you’re already equipped with your steed but think it could do with some fine-tuning, the shops all offer a top-rated repair, refit and maintenance service. New brake pads? New springs? Whatever needs doing, they can tackle it, and the staff are all qualified bicycle engineers. Also of interest, the shop offers bicycle hire, perfect if you and the family want to borrow some wheels for a day trip around York or out into the surrounding countryside.

Cycle Heaven also runs a bike finance scheme – essentially if you’re using the cycle to work initiative you can buy a bike today and pay later using a credit note. Also, the café is well regarded with locals, boasting countless positive reviews.

Whether you’re an enthusiast or a novice, if you’re in York and need anything bike-related, Cycle Heaven is your one-stop-shop, plus you can have a bite to eat while you’re at it.
