Cloudwater has become one of Manchester’s most celebrated brewing success stories. Having started as a small batch brewer in 2014, they are now a nationally recognised name with two tap rooms in the city centre. As much as we love the cosy interior of Sadler’s Cat, their sister bar, the Unit 9 Taproom feels like a more special experience where you’re drinking directly in the brewery. For those who want to go one step further, you can also join the brewing team for a Brewery tour where you’ll learn about the process.

Cloudwater have always been at the forefront of trying new flavour profiles, brewing methods and taking on daring collaborations. It’s what makes their brewery feel so exciting, you never know what it is they’ll be working on at the time you choose to go. During the tour you’ll learn about the brewing process and how all of the spaceship looking machines work. You’ll then enjoy four pours of the freshest beer you can try as well as a tutored tasting.

If you’re a serious hop-head, it’s the perfect way to understand the nuts and bolts of your preferred beverage. There is always plenty of time for questions after the tours and the Unit 9 Taproom is a very welcoming space to those looking to carry on the afternoon post tour. Tours take place on Saturdays and Sundays starting at the beginning of the day and lasting around two hours, including time to hang out after. The tap room is easily accessible on foot from Piccadilly Station.

As well as creating excellent beer, Cloudwater are well known for their strong sense of community and enthusiasm for curating events in both the tap room and Sadler’s Cat. Check out their website to discover the regular live music, guest street food vendors and arts fairs to be found amongst the casks and brewhouse.
