One of multiple stores around the UK, Rough Trade is known for its vinyl records, books and merchandise. The first London shop opened in 1976 so the chain has a long history. Now Liverpool has its very own one too, the largest Rough Trade store so far in a super central location on Hanover Street. Close to the nightlife epicentre of the city, it’s a great place to both add to your vinyl collection and catch a gig.

Their busy schedule includes a range of acts, from famous musicians to emerging artists. (The venue capacity is 400 people so expect intimate gigs to larger acts). The dedicated events space is used for other purposes too, such as life drawing classes, fundraisers and comedy gigs: highlights so far include Matt Berry and Jake Bugg.

Music in the North

10 fresh shows across Manchester, Leeds and Liverpool, threading together noise, ritual, euphoria and release in all their messy, beautiful forms.

Exhibitions in the North
