Sandwiched between the Albert Dock and shopping district Liverpool ONE, Chavasse Park was for years a fairly unloved and windswept patch of green; an empty space that left the city’s historic waterfront isolated from the city centre. That all changed with the development of Liverpool ONE.

Now, a long walkway bordered by the Hilton hotel on one side and the hill of Chavasse Park on the other points from city to river; an engaging ground-level fountain entices you on. The park, meanwhile, is actually a hill, its intelligent planting and graduated steps providing shelter from the fierce wind that can whip up off the river. At the top, a level area makes a good place for impromptu picnics, while regular pop-up events (such as fairground rides and an ice festival) are a draw for families.
