Build your own robot and learn all about sustainability at Junkbots at People’s History Museum this February Half Term, part of the SUPER DUPER Family Festival. Get ready for this awesome family activity, where little inventors and big ones too can build their very own robot, inspired by the iconic Deceptioncon robot costume now on display at the museum.

This hands-on activity is a great way for families to make memories together through creativity and play. Taking place in the museum’s Playful Protest Space, children and their grownups can explore an incredible treasure trove of recycled materials to design and build their own unique ‘junkbot’. Whether the robot is quirky, futuristic, or simply the cutest thing ever, this is all about letting your imagination run wild and having some fun!

Before making your robot, meet Deceptioncon in the museum foyer and learn about its fascinating history as part of a workers’ rights campaign. It’s a great way for families to explore the importance of protest and teamwork, inspiring children to think about how art and creativity can make a difference in the world.

Once your junkbot is complete, you can either take it home as a new robot friend or add it to the imaginary picket line at the museum. As well as being an opportunity to get creative, this activity also introduces little’uns to the the importance of sustainability by reusing materials to create something amazing.

Don’t miss this chance to combine creativity, learning, and family fun at the SUPER DUPER Family Festival. It’s free too, so a great option if you’re feeling a bit strapped for cash!

Junkbots at People’s History Museum is suitable for ages 5-12 (under 18s must be accompanied by an adult). Entry is drop in and there is no need to book.
