In an enviable location next to the Victoria Theatre and just a few minutes from The Piece Hall, The Victorian Craft Beer Cafe is a beautifully independent pub that stocks beer from some of the most progressive breweries in the UK.

Since opening in 2014, The Victorian Craft Beer Cafe has brought a shimmer of continental style to the Yorkshire town. With a large selection of Belgian beer and a constantly evolving collection of ales from breweries such as Squawk, Blackjack, Black Iris, Anspach & Hobday, Anarchy, Track and Thornbridge, the venue is pretty much a mecca for ale lovers. Meat eaters will love the fabulous and unusual selection of pies available too – take your pick from pork and black pudding, chorizo or fiery chilli pork pie.

With 10 handpumps, serving eight real ales and two real ciders, 18 beers on tap and 100 bottled ales too, The Victorian Craft Beer Cafe was voted Pub of the Year by Halifax & Calderdale CAMRA in 2019. The pub also boasts one of the finest single malt whisky selections in Halifax too.

There’s always a full programme of events on offer too – from acoustic sessions and traditional pub tunes to poetry and spoken word open mic nights. Belgian Beer enthusiasts should keep their eyes peeled for Belgian beer weekenders too, which include traditional Belgian snacks too. We love that every August bank holiday weekend, the venue joins with the Grayston Unity, The Alex and The Lantern to host the Indyfax Beer Festival – a fantastic fusion of ale, food and live music. We’ll raise a glass to that.
