High Force Hotel

Situated in beautiful Teesdale, High Force Hotel is in a picturesque spot surrounded by the beauty of County Durham’s rolling green hills and luscious scenery. Built upon the ancient Whin Sill that formed around 295 million years ago, this rock forms a crescent of hard dolerite rock that is often known for being the rock upon which part of Hadrian’s Wall was built and Bamburgh Castle. This hard rock has formed some of the most dramatic sights in the North East of England of which High Force waterfall is one of them. It gets its name from the Old Norse (Viking Language) for waterfall and is the higher of the two waterfalls in the area, being one of the most impressive in England.

The hotel itself is a beautiful old coaching inn from the days when travel by horse or carriage was the quickest way to travel. The hotel boasts comfortable ensuite bedrooms that enjoy the combination between modern facilities and the rustic environment that you find yourself in. Each room has been individually designed for comfort and style, from their largest king size room, down to their single bedrooms. Their food is also not to be missed, with British classics available for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and light snacks and drink options throughout the day, including locally roasted coffee. There will be something for you no matter how you are feeling. There is a choice in where you would like to eat from indoors, near their bars, or outside in the garden, depending on the season. Alongside that, High Force Hotel is a dog friendly venue, so you can bring your four-legged family with you as you enjoy your meal. The hotel is a part of the Raby Estate and it is located a short distance from Raby Castle and its park and gardens, while also being close to wonderful walks in the North Pennines, making it the perfect place to stay for a trip to these areas. If you are looking for a rustic and beautiful experience with all of the comfort you could require, then High Force Hotel is for you.
