Great Northern gets bigger and more appealing every season, and the après ski inspired pop-up venue Bar Hutte is the perfect winter destination for all your big festive nights out. It’s based at the street level, on the corner of Peter Street and Deansgate, and consists of a bunch of warm, fun-packed karaoke huts, plus a sprawling inside bar area and dancefloor.

Inside, you’ll find a host of live music acts and DJs for those festive singalongs, plus a great range of quality drinks and cocktails for those festive drinkalongs. The atmosphere is positively roof-raising, more than welcoming to everyone. If you’re struggling to find somewhere for a works night out that can appeal to everyone from 18 to 80, this is a prime spot.

It’s a pretty swanky joint, with lots of flattering lighting and spots to pose for photos

Having said that, it’s a pretty swanky joint, with lots of flattering lighting and spots to pose for photos. The karaoke huts outside go down a storm, and while I’d rather carve off my own leg and serve it up for Christmas dinner than do karaoke, everyone seems to be having a whale of a time.

It’s best to book in advance but walk-ins are welcome too. Tuesdays are a particularly appealing time to visit, with a bunch of great offers on cocktails, spirits and pints. And if you really want to splash out – and why not? We’ve two years of fun to cram in – you can pick up a magnum of prosecco for a mere £30.

Bar Hutte is a great party destination and one we should make the most of before a) it transforms into something else, or b) another dreaded l*ckdown hits.
