Minute Taker is alternative singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Ben McGarvey. Inspired by imaginative artists such as Kate Bush, David Bowie, Tori Amos & Björk, he creates haunting piano songs with multilayered ethereal vocals, distorted electronic beats and otherworldly synthscapes.

Minute Taker has released two critically acclaimed albums and has composed several soundtracks for the stage, including dark stage musical HOAX My Lonely Heart (Manchester Royal Exchange, 2014 & The Lowry, 2017) and audiovisual show To Love Somebody Melancholy (Chorlton/Didsbury/Hebden Bridge Arts Festivals 2015-17).

Minute Taker’s dynamic performance at Waterside Arts will feature selections from his eclectic back catalogue, along with reimagined cover versions and new songs in development for his upcoming third album.
