Exhibitions in the North
Maja Lorkowska, Exhibitions EditorOctober isn’t a particularly spooky for galleries across the North this year – instead, you’ll find tactile sculptures, Treasures with a capital ‘T’ and plant magic.
Manchester offers three very different shows: esea contemporary presents Marcos Kueh‘s textile works on labour histories; HOME opens Roots in the Sky – a show that explores the layered identities of the Black diaspora; and Castlefield Gallery’s It Requires Getting Lost is a meeting of international artists and local contemporary creatives.
In Yorkshire, head to Leeds Art Gallery to experience Plant Dreaming, take a look at the visual poem created by Briony Sandler at Sunny Bank Mills for the Wild Service Festival, and have a rest at Claye Bowler‘s solo show at YSP.
Last but certainly not least – it’s Liverpool. Just Browsing at the Bluecoat invites you to (literally) feel the artwork, The Museum of Liverpool is currently home to some very shiny archaeological finds, and Open Eye Gallery’s Firehawks tells the stories of children who set fires.
