Manchester Photography Collective celebrates its second year with Where We Move Together. This free exhibition is all about showcasing the energy, rhythm and everyday poetry of Manchester through the eyes of its photographic community and a camera lens.

The exhibition will be held at the Marriott Victoria and Albert, with the space open for everyone to come and see their city paused in time. Manchester Photography Collective has gathered work from photographers across Greater Manchester for the exhibition. These passionate photographers went out in the city to capture how it moves, how the people pass through the streets and the shared moments that form and disappear with each passing minute.

Movement can be interpreted in different ways, and the works on display showcase the different ways these photographers chose to capture it. Some images focus on physical motion and the natural urban flow. Others lean into the quieter emotional elements, capturing fleeting gestures and scenes that might otherwise go unnoticed.

Manchester Photography Collective began and remains an open community for photographers of all levels. It has now grown into a thriving creative network with hundreds of active members. Some of which may be picking up a camera for the first time, others are seasoned professionals. But what unites them is a shared curiosity about the city and a shared understanding of supporting one another.

Where We Move Together really reflects this diversity. With 76 submissions, totalling to over 200 photographs, the curation process was challenging yet exciting, say the organisers. The final works on display offer multiple perspectives on Manchester life, stitched together by a collective love of storytelling through the lens.

At its heart, Where We Move Together is a portrait of a city in motion. Housed in the Grade II listed Marriott Victoria and Albert, providing a beautiful and historic backdrop, visitors can see the city they know today surrounded by a part of the city from long ago.
