Victoria Baths, Hathersage Road, Chorlton-on-Medlock, Manchester, M13 0FE – Visit Now
Oh, Victoria Baths, how we love thee: this Grade-II listed former swimming baths is a Victorian stunner, all deep green glazed tiles, terracotta twiddly bits and Turkish baths. Back in 2003, the then-abandoned baths won the BBC TV programme, Restoration, a £500k win that set in train the slow but gradual refurbishment of a building that contains three swimming pools, treatment rooms and what at one time were the country’s first public Aeratone Therapeutic Baths.
Restoration (and fundraising) continues, but the baths at at least open regularly now – for open days, tours and special events such as the annual Indy Man Beer Con festival.
Because of the ongoing Coronavirus crisis, we are unable to bring you our usual recommendations for things to do in Manchester and the North. Our thoughts at this time are with our readers and with the organisations and businesses who make the North of England a great place to live and visit. We hope you stay well and look forward to sharing more unmissable events and places with you later in the year.
