The Lyceum

Bold Street, Liverpool, L1
Book now

The Lyceum first opened in 1802 and experienced life not only as a gentleman’s club, but also as a news room and subscription library (said to be the oldest in Europe). For years it was empty, then occupied by a restaurant and post office but it has settled back into closure. It has been the subject of bids for demolition and redevelopment over recent years, but for now the neo-classical gem still stands on Bold Street.
