Opened in a former disused petrol station and fancy dress shop back in 2016, over the past near-decade Hyde Park Book Club has blossomed into a multi use music and arts venue that acts as a home from home for many of the area’s local creatives. Boasting not one but two venue spaces, its very own music label, and an entirely veggie and vegan café, it hosts a number of intimate and exciting shows throughout the year.
Space for everything from open mic nights and touring bands, to group meetings and inspiring talks.
As the name suggests, the Book Club initially grew from a passion for literature – but also for plants, good food and drink, music, art, and most importantly a great sense of community. Home to a great coffee shop, café and bar, it’s a staple of the city’s cultural scene: creating space for everything from open mic nights and touring bands, to group meetings and inspiring talks.
On the menu here, you’ll find premium coffee sourced locally from Leeds’ environmentally conscious roasters North Star, as well as an entirely vegetarian and vegan menu. A great place to come, relax, and soak up the very best of Leeds’ creative energy, start your day off with great coffee and a hearty brunch plate. Think eggs or tofu on toast, avocado with vegan n’duja, oyster mushrooms with truffle oil and seed cream, soft shell breakfast tacos, or a traditional big breakfast.
Started life as a cosy little café but has since blossomed into a live music and arts space.
As the day goes on, dig into a selection of house sandwiches and salads, as well as small plates and tacos with a distinctly Mexican flavour. From homemade nachos and quesadillas, to vegan chicken, BBQ pulled oyster mushroom, and vegetable tacos, there’s plenty to get stuck into here. As for those fancying a tipple, you’ll find margaritas, draught beers, wine, and more on offer at its bar.
Sitting at the heart of Leeds’ creative scene, Hyde Park Book Club first started life as a cosy little café but has since blossomed into a live music and arts space. Split across two floors, the bohemian space is something of a mecca for the area’s writers, artists, and musicians, who flock here to meet like minded souls and discover the latest that the scene has to offer.
