If Manchester had a shrine to all things cult cinema, CULTPLEX would be it. Now running the whole building at 50 Red Bank, the team have taken their love of film and run wild with it.

Screen 1, the much-loved original, has had a serious upgrade. It now comes with proper raked seating and a shiny new DCP projection system, opening the door to everything from festival favourites to brand-new releases. Thanks to some generous help from their friends at Mockingbird Cinema, Manchester’s indie film scene just levelled up.

There’s more where that came from. Screen 2, downstairs in what used to be the Dining Room, seats around 30 to 40 people and will host a mix of niche screenings, new promoters and offbeat programming. Then there’s Screen 3, which might just be the smallest cinema in the city. With space for only eight people, it’s perfect for private screenings or a film night with your closest mates.

The rest of CULTPLEX has had a makeover too. Expect cult movie posters on the walls, gaming stations and arcade cabinets for pre or post film fun, and a snack line-up that goes way beyond your standard popcorn. Think imported Japanese sweets, beer-braised hot dogs from Oscar’s Dogs and a solid choice of drinks at the bar.

They’ve even added a retail corner selling vinyl, Blu-rays and books for anyone who still loves the real, physical stuff. With its spooky STAB season, community feel and all-round love for the weird and wonderful, CULTPLEX isn’t just a cinema, it’s a home for Manchester’s film obsessives.
