Once a fixture of Manchester’s Green Quarter, Runaway Brewery has since found a new home in the historic heart of Stockport, and it is thriving. This independent microbrewery continues to do what it does best: producing small-batch modern British beer with an eye for detail and a deep respect for traditional brewing methods.

The brewery’s taproom and spacious beer garden are a relaxed setting for sampling the goods. Expect a rotating line-up of ten keg lines and two cask options, alongside bottles, cans, and a smattering of guest drinks. This includes natural wines, independent ciders, and softs from the likes of Steep Soda. Visitors can also enjoy freshly fired sourdough pizza from Honest Crust, served from the courtyard during select weekends.

Brewery tours, led by the team themselves, offer a deeper dive into the brewing process and the ethos behind Runaway’s approach, topped off with a guided tasting session. Meanwhile, the on-site bottle shop is stocked with the latest releases, available to browse in person or order online for collection or delivery.

Just a short walk from Stockport’s train and bus stations, Runaway Brewery is well worth seeking out – whether you’re a long-time fan from the Manchester days or a new convert drawn in by the smell of hops and the promise of a good pint.
