Artefact is a dream for vintage lovers – a unique combination of a coffee shop with a vintage furniture and interior décor store.

Located behind the Bombed Out Church, it’s very slightly out of the way, enough to ensure you can always get a table but still easy enough to find. Look for green stable doors, leading to a space with high ceilings, steeped in some atmospheric gloom. Vintage lamps illuminate the space and all of the treasures it offers, you can browse and explore whilst enjoying a strong coffee. You’ll find retro armchairs, dressers and desks alongside smaller items like 70s teapots and risqué posters.

It’s a welcome addition to an area that in recent years has been taken over by Airbnb rentals, both for the locals and students living in the area as well as the people staying there for a night or two.

The owners are incredibly friendly, welcoming and genuinely passionate about creating a welcoming community and it must be said that they’ve been pretty successful so far. Artefact has not been around for long but it’s already firmly established on Liverpool‘s art and culture map as a laid-back place to hang out in and collaborate with. They host regular open mic nights, film showings, vintage sales, exhibitions, life drawing classes and vinyl nights. Keep an eye on their social media to see what’s going on in the coming weeks.
