Joshua Clague: and it feels like i just got home at Bluecoat, City Centre 10 January — 14 April 2024 Entrance is free — Visit now

As part of The Lives of Artists season, the Bluecoat welcomes Joshua Clague with: it feels like I just got home.

Originally from Merseyside, Clague recently graduated from Goldsmiths and now works with a range of mediums from writing and installation to textiles and performance. He’s interested in themes of memory, family, love and fandom.

For his exhibition at the Bluecoat, he focuses on the enduring memories of the female voice throughout his life. Pop icons he used to emulate are a motif running through the display, revealing how the artist’s sense of self changed over time.

Clague has recently exhibited as part of Bloomberg New contemporaries 2022 and thanks to receiving a studio bursary, he has a longstanding connection with the Bluecoat – he has held a studio space there since March 2023 and used the gallery over the last few months as a space to experiment with and create new work.
