Igor + Moreno are set to take over The Lowry, Salford this October with performances and their first-ever gallery takeover. Taking up residency in The Lowry’s galleries as part of their EDIT series, the celebrated contemporary dance company will present Limited Celestial Space, an installation inspired by their earlier work Andante, which will also be performed at the venue.

Limited Celestial Space offers performers the opportunity to take risks while inviting the audience to pause and reconnect with their senses.

Commissioned by the Lowry, Limited Celestial Space takes Andante as an initial starting point, reworking and developing it for a gallery space. A contemplative piece that occupies a space filled with smoke and scent, Limited Celestial Space offers performers the opportunity to take risks while inviting the audience to pause and reconnect with their senses.

Examining motifs of disorientation and the power of our senses, the stunning choreography will be framed and shaped by light, sound, smells and smoke which have been specially created by perfumer Alessandro Gualtieri. The sensual installation will be activated by the audience as they pass through the gallery space.

In continuing their long-standing relationship with The Lowry, Igor + Moreno will also premiere their brand-new dance work, BEAT during their residency. Created in collaboration with celebrated London DJ Martha and Italian dancer Magherita Elliott, BEAT is a wonderfully psychedelic solo show developed for theatre and non-theatre space.

Igor Urzelai and Moreno Solinas said: “We are excited to be returning to The Lowry with two brand new artworks, and to be celebrating some of our earlier shows in venues where we have received so much nurturing and support throughout our careers. It’s a special thing to be invited to create our first gallery installation this year at The Lowry, and to be collaborating with so many talented artists, designers, performers, musicians and DJs across our works during this very exciting time for our company.”
