Housed in a picturesque brewery building, Brewery Arts has over 50 years experience of delivering an exciting and inspirational programme, including cultural events, festivals and creative learning courses.

The historic venue houses several live performance spaces, a two-screen cinema, plus a ‘digital lounge’ for immersive film and gaming experiences. There is also a music production studio with a full suite of top of the range equipment. This allows the Brewery to host a series of residencies, workshops, and courses. These run the gamut from Afro-Brazilian dance to am-dram theatre productions and courses in film and languages. Whether you’re looking to learn something new yourself or for somewhere to send the kids for artistic edification, Brewery Arts has you covered.

A year-round programme takes places in the 263 capacity theatre, while in the 420 capacity Malt Room, musical acts that have performed include Tim Burgess, Mystery Jets, and BC Camplight, alongside countless local artists with the world ahead of them. The cinema, meanwhile, puts on arthouse films from all around the world and is a great place to catch cutting edge productions. They also specialise in stage on screen, giving access to world-class theatre and dance beamed direct to Kendal.

The family-friendly restaurant and bar is also a lovely spot for drinks, or, if you’re peckish, everything from stone-baked pizzas to more traditional recipes.

There is always something amazing happening at the Brewery, so creative tourists should make it a priority to visit on their trip to Kendal.

The Brewery Arts has its own car park and is located in the centre of Kendal, Cumbria. Nearby, you will find the wonderful Kendal Museum, which is sure to complement the contemporary offerings at the Brewery. There’s also the River Kent, which makes a great picturesque walk, and crossing a bridge will get you to Kendal Castle.
