Cask is a well-loved pub on Liverpool Road in Manchester, it is one of the most laid back pubs in town – one, it should be noted, with an excellent selection of continental beers. If you are after a Belgium beer with enough volume to need a council permit, look no further.

The beer garden isn’t fancy, but it does the job, with lots of seating packed in. It’s in Castlefield, but without the canal-side vista.

Top tip — after a few pints, pick up something beige from the chippy next door and take it back into the pub. There’s something of a symbiotic relationship going on between the two places, and we are here for it.
