UrbanArtistry continue their series of films at CULTPLEX exploring urban and street art culture with Spiritual Letters – The life and art of Mr. Paradox Paradise — a film never before screened in the UK.

Operating for over fifteen years now, Mr. Paradox Paradise is a street artist known for covering cities with “mystic vertical lettering” on skyscrapers, working with a language he calls “Paraglyphs”. This documentary takes us behind the scenes, as the Berlin based artist produces his columns of red and blue graffiti across the city’s skyline, while exploring the connection between art, letters and spirituality.

From the rooftops, to the backstreets, Spiritual Letters follows the secretive Paradox (who is credited as writer, director and star) as he hangs from buildings, picks locks and rides the roof of a city bus, offering a glimpse of the philosophy and practicalities of an artistic practice that takes the artist beyond the limits of the law.

While there have been screenings in Germany and France, this UrbanArtistry event at GRUB’s CULTPLEX offers Manchester audiences an exceedingly rare opportunity to discover Paradox on the big screen.
