UrbanArtisty continue to explore street art through cinema with their first event of 2025 this month at CULTPLEX.  JDL – Behind the Wall focuses on Dutch street artist Judith de Leeuw, or JDL, who is known for producing large scale murals across cities such as far flung as Amsterdam, Tbilisi, New York, Rome and Kuala Lumpur.

Distinctive for the sheer size of her work and the social themes that she employs, JDL was followed for a year by director Deborah Faraone Mennella. The resulting film tracks the artist, both in her native Netherlands, and in the Italian city of of Taranto, as she creates a 30-metre high work, Love is Stronger than Death which deals with grief and mourning in the wake of the death of her father.

Doors for the film open at 7:30, but CULTPLEX is located within street food venue GRUB, who will be serving up a variety of food and tasty beverages as always from 6pm.
