Head to Lowry for Rooh: Within Her, a compelling solo dance show by the renowned choreographer and performer Urja Desai Thakore.

In this new production by the ever-brilliant Pagrav Dance Company, Urja Desai Thakore explores inspirational figures and quiet, everyday, heroism across two millennia. Among the narratives, she explores the turmoil of a mother searching for her son in a time of war, a celebrated figure in ancient Tamil literature, and the renowned Gujarati author, Chaaran Kanya, who wrote about the folk heroine Heerbai: the teenage cowherdess.

Most intelligently, Urja Desai Thakore connects her audience to the experiences of these characters, celebrating how all these seemingly minor narratives influence our current and future selves.

If you like the sound of this show, do take a look at our round-up of Contemporary Dance at Lowry.
