RNCM Big Band with Bart van Lier

The RNCM’s Big Band collaborates with Bart van Lier, principal trombonist with the Netherland’s Metropole Orkest, culminating in this major concert.
The Hilversum-based jazz and pop orchestra was established in 1945 to raise the morale of the Dutch people following World War II. It has gone on to win a Grammy Award – for its 2015 collaboration with Snarky Puppy on Slyva, which scooped Best Contemporary Instrumental Album in 2016 – and has worked with the likes Ella Fitzgerald, Dizzy Gillespie and Brian Eno over the decades.
Renowned jazz improviser Van Lier will collaborate with the RNCM’s Big Band for a programme here that features some of his own pieces, as well as solos and ensemble compositions by Bill Holman, Jerome Kern and Howard Dietz and Arthur Schwartz.
