Some of Manchester’s most inventive creative forces are set to collide this August at HOME Manchester. Wild and joyful, Pleasure Rebellion is a brand-new theatrical extravaganza co-created by interdisciplinary theatre-makers So La Flair and cross-art performance collective Night People, with styling by cult thrift pioneers Beg, Steal & Borrow.
Blending storytelling, cabaret, dance and music into a heady mash-up that could only have been born in Manchester’s queer underground, the show takes inspiration from Dionysus – the ancient god of pleasure, festivity and theatre.
At the heart of the show is a creative dream team. So La Flair are known for conjuring bold, interdisciplinary cabaret for Manchester’s queer community. Night People fuse dance-theatre with audiovisual performance, bringing power, physicality and bass-heavy energy to the stage. And Beg, Steal & Borrow, the city’s most eccentric thrift pioneers, marry fashion-forward styling with conscious, low-carbon creativity – the perfect partners for a performance rooted in radical self-expression.
Expect unrestrained spectacle, high-energy dance, flamboyant styling and creative captioning. This is a cabaret performance that has been crafted with inclusivity at its core – a vibrant reminder that pleasure and rebellion should be accessible to all.
