While live music has been on pause, Band on the Wall have been busy working with a cohort of emerging artists from Manchester, recording full live sets over at fivefourstudios, Salford. These artists, who feature on Band on the Wall Recordings’ 2020 fundraiser compilation (available here), are billed as “the future sound of Manchester – an outstanding collection of musicians whose work spans neo-soul, jazz, afro-electronic and more”.

Over four consecutive Fridays in April, Band on the Wall are broadcasting a full set by a different artist. Following performances by singer-songwriters Mali Hayes and Yemi Bolatiwa, on 23rd April we look forward to hearing from Secret Night Gang, whose blend of soul, R&B, gospel and funk is turning a lot of heads. 2021 has already seen hugely positive movements for the Manchester band, having just signed to Gilles Peterson’s Brownswood Recordings and had their music feature on the latest Grand Theft Auto soundtrack. Listen to SNG’s latest single ‘The Sun’ for a taste of what to expect.

Live-ish streams are free to watch via Band on the Wall’s website, where you can also make donations to help support the musicians involved.
