With eye-popping visuals, world-class puppetry and plenty of theatrical magic, the multi award-winning theatrical adaptation of Life of Pi returns to The Lowry this July.

The perfect show for the whole family, Lolita Chakrabarti’s spectacular production takes Yann Martel’s Man Booker Prize-winner from page to stage. Telling a poignant and striking story of courage and belief, the stage adaptation first wowed audiences at Sheffield Crucible Theatre in 2019, before securing a West End transfer later that year. The hugely successful, much-loved production went on to win every major play award including five Olivier awards.

The fantastical story centres around a teenage Indian boy named Pi, who becomes lost in the Pacific Ocean following a huge storm. Stranded on a lifeboat, Pi struggles for survival along with four other characters – a hyena, a zebra, an orangutan and a Royal Bengal tiger named Richard Parker. An epic journey of connection, discovery and adventure ensues in this gripping tale of faith and endurance.

Directed by Max Webster, Divesh Subaskaran is set to make his professional debut in the central role of Pi alongside an ensemble of 17 talented performers, many of them also puppeteers. Visually stunning and impeccably choreographed, a menagerie of large-scale puppets, designed by Nick Barnes and Finn Caldwell, bring the story to life.

Tim Hatley’s set and costume design, Tim Lutkin’s atmospheric lighting design and Andrzej Goulding’s sublime visuals support the vibrant storytelling, conjuring the vast chaos of the ocean.

Recommended for adventure-seekers and theatre lovers ages 8+, Life of Pi tells an unforgettable tale of endurance, hope, faith and the strength of human nature.

Don’t miss your chance to experience this life-changing journey across oceans and seas with your loved ones. Book your tickets now.
