Joyous, uplifting and fabulous, the phenomenal new musical – Fantastically Great Women Who Changed the World – sweeps into The Lowry this April. Created by the producers of the international hit musical SIX (no less), Fantastically Great Women Who Changed the World is a stage musical adaptation of suffragette descendent Kate Pankhurst’s award-winning picture book. Described as a ‘kickass-pirational pop musical’, we’re thrilled that this upbeat show will delight Salford audiences for eight performances on its Spring 2022 UK tour.

With an all-female creative team…the show has been created by a phenomenal team of fantastically great women too.

With an all-female creative team, the musical has been written by celebrated dramatist Chris Bush and songwriter Miranda Cooper, who has penned hits for pop superstars Kylie Minogue and Girls Aloud. With music by Miranda Cooper and Jennifer Decilveo and direction by Amy Hodge – it looks as though the show has been created by a phenomenal team of fantastically great women too.

Featuring the original and most incredible wonder women…

The story follows inquisitive heroine Jade and her visit to a local museum on a school trip. When Jade sneaks away from the rest of her classmates to take a look at a new exhibition, ‘Gallery of Greatness’ – which is not open to the public yet, she is surprised to bump into some of the most influential women ever to have lived. Rubbing shoulders with some of the most iconic female figures in history, she meets explorers, scientists, artists and secret agents. Featuring the original and most incredible wonder women: Frida Kahlo, Sacagawea, Rosa Parks, Amelia Earhart, Marie Curie, Emmeline Pankhurst, Mary Seacole and Jane Austen, Jade runs into the women who shook the world.

Boasting an all-star all-female cast, the show will see Renee Lamb (SIX, West End), Christina Modestou (SIX, West End) and Jade Kennedy (The Snow Queen, Brighton Open Air Theatre) return to the stage following the hugely popular (although devastated by Covid-19) 2021 tour of the musical. New cast members Kirstie Skivington (Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, Apollo Theatre), Kudzai Mangombe (Malindadzimu, Hampstead Theatre), Elise Zavou (Red Riding Hood, Theatre Royal Stratford East) and Clarice Julianda (Priscilla: Queen of the Desert, UK tour) join them to complete this impressive female powerhouse of performers.

The perfect way for all ages to celebrate some of the female icons who changed the world.

Packed full of celebrated – though often forgotten – characters, inspirational moments and an electric soundtrack, Fantastically Great Women Who Changed the World introduces audiences to some of history’s strongest mothers, daughters and sisters. Recommended for ages 7+, we think this show is the perfect way for all ages to celebrate some of the female icons who changed the world.
