Selina Helliwell’s glittering cabaret collective Ember & the Vixens returns this September with a brand new variety night – and this time, they’re diving headfirst into the world of fantasy and fairytales.

Hosted at Manchester’s Cultplex, the show promises escapism with edge: a bold, female-led night of burlesque, circus, live music and spoken word that’s as empowering as it is entertaining.

An Evening of Fantasy & Fairytales invites audiences into a realm of magical mischief, where sensual burlesque meets punchy poetry, and high-flying circus arts sit alongside sharp storytelling. Expect high-glam and high drama – all delivered with glitter and a hint of rebellion.

Curated by Helliwell (a.k.a. Ember Travixen), the Vixens have built a loyal following with their seasonal specials and genre-bending showcases. Whether themed around Valentine’s Day, Halloween or feminist folklore, the night always offers a vibrant space for self-expression, empowerment and entertainment.

Cultplex offers the perfect backdrop for a night like this. Equal parts cinema, event space and underground hangout, it brings a late-night, alt-cabaret vibe that makes the whole experience feel like a well-kept secret you’ll want to share.

So whether you’re a sucker for a fairytale, a fan of high-concept cabaret, or just after something that breaks the mould of a typical night out, Ember & the Vixens is a solid bet. Magic, mischief and mesmerising talent.
