Celluloid Screams Horror All-Nighter 2025 at Showroom Workstation, City Centre 29 March 2025 Tickets from £20.00 — Book now

Let Celluloid Screams keep you up all night this March as the horror movie specialists present a five-film marathon at Sheffield’s Showroom Cinema. Scheduled to start at 11pm on Saturday 29 March — though do get down early to test your knowledge for prizes in the horror quiz in the Showroom bar from 9pm — there’s four classic ’80s movies and one mystery film, for horror fiends to dig their teeth into.

The night’s films start strongly with Joe Dante’s much loved werewolf flick, The Howling, a glorious low-budget entertainer that’s loaded with all the wit and satire you’d expect from the man behind the likes of Gremlins and Small Soldiers. That’s followed by another horror comedy in the form of The Monster Squad, from director Fred Dekker who worked with then screenwriter Shane Black on this cult classic tale of a group of monster-obsessed kids who unexpectedly meet the real thing.

Sandwiched in the middle of the night is the mystery movie. The title will only be revealed moments before the projector starts whirring, but given Celluloid Screams’ track record, we’re sure it’ll be worth staying up for. The last two films of the all-nighter have a more international flavour, as an evil sorcerer casts a deadly spell that leads to Centipede Horror in Keith Li’s notorious 1982 Hong Kong shocker, and a young family make a bad move in relocating to the House by the Cemetery in Italian master of horror Lucio Fulci’s grisly 1981 slasher.

As always with this kind of marathon screening, much of the fun is in the camaraderie generated by gathering with your fellow film freaks. So for audience members that make it through the whole event, there will be a survivor’s group photo to remember the night and a special discount on a well-deserved breakfast in the Showroom bar.
