Autumnal crafting is a great way to chase away those seasonal SADS. Join upcycler and passionate facilitator Gemma Longworth to create an autumn wreath. Using seasonal foliage you’ll create a wreath that smells and looks beautifully celebratory. The perfect way to warm your home and mark the changing season. Whether it becomes the centre piece of your house or sits proudly on your door, you’ll feel a sense of pride knowing you made it yourself every time you walk past.

Gemma Longworth is a highly experienced workshop leader and crafter whose enthusiasm for the power of craft is infectious. Using found material, decorations and sustainably sourced foliage, you’ll build and craft your wreath over a mindful afternoon at Bluecoat. Chatting, sharing and enjoying the process with other like minded wreath makers.

Getting out of your head and using your hands is an excellent way to deal with feelings that may come up at times of seasonal transition. Gemma herself found her way into crafting as a therapeutic tool after a close bereavement. You can read about her experiences in her book Craft Your Cure. Her ethos of taking something negative and turning it into something positive can be seen in her work as an upcycler, transforming seemingly unwanted objects into something beautiful.

All materials for the workshop will be provided and the level will be completely accessible for crafty beginners. You’ll be walked through the process of creating your wreath in easy to follow steps with the watchful guidance of Gemma. So you can be sure to leave the workshop having made something to be really proud of.

The Bluecoat are hosting a packed schedule of activities, exhibitions and events over the autumn. So as the weather outside gets colder, join them for cultural happenings to keep your mind and soul well warmed.
