Join the week-long celebrations of the humble apple. In the Beningbrough gardens, more than 50 varieties are grown and you’re invited to help with the harvest. Seen side by side the differences are something to behold from colours and size to texture and gloss. Sample chutneys and ciders and the freshest juice after the day’s pressing.

The restaurant serves some creative ideas on the menu…if you’re still hungry. Have a go at the games and often surprising blind taste tests – see if the Lancashire or Yorkshire variety is the one you pick out after a sample; you could be surprised. Make the most of a visit with a wander around the two-acre walled garden to see what else is growing.

Please note that although dogs are welcome in most areas of the garden – this does not include the walled garden where many activities take place.
