Poetic Licence Bar

The sister venue to Let There Be Crumbs, Poetic Licence, situated on Roker Seafront, offers some of the best views and diverse drinks in Sunderland. Poetic Licence provides a great location to enjoy the sun, sea, and sand while in their beer garden and enjoying one of their drinks; cocktails being one of their specialties. These are designed in-house by the creative talents of the bar manager, Scott, who blends his experience with knowledge to make the best cocktails for customers to enjoy. This is combined with the desire to always create new drinks that inspire other staff to always be looking for exciting new flavours and combinations for you to sample. This is best optimised in the ‘ever changing cocktail’; a drink that never stays the same and, like a chef’s special, provides an exciting new option for the sophisticated drinker. Mocktails are also on offer meaning if you are the designated driver, you can still enjoy these fantastic flavours.

It is not just cocktails that Poetic Licence offer; they have their own Gin Distillery – lovingly named Gracie. Behind the bar, a five hundred litre sill sits and distils their own gin for you to enjoy. These are transformed into sweet gin liqueurs that include flavours such as ginger, star anise and fruit extracts or even salted caramel. With your gin being distilled behind the bar, you cannot have less of a carbon imprint than that. Ales are also offered by S43 Brewery from County Durham, providing more local flavours by skilled brewers with a passion for their craft, whose ale Trailblazer is a fantastic example of their skill. So, no matter your preference in alcoholic (or non-alcoholic drinks) you’ll have something to enjoy at Poetic Licence.
