Penistone Hill Country Park is a windswept gem with deep roots in Yorkshire’s industrial and literary heritage. Once shaped by stone quarries and coal pits, the landscape has regenerated into a striking patchwork of heather, trails and dramatic views across Brontë Country. Just a short walk from Haworth, the park forms part of the cultural and geographical backdrop to Wuthering Heights – still carrying echoes of the wild romanticism that inspired it.

As part of Bradford 2025’s UK City of Culture programme, Penistone Hill plays host to outdoor events that celebrate the enduring connection between landscape, identity and creativity. Whether you’re exploring on foot, taking in some open-air visual art, or just soaking up the view, this is a place where past and present meet under big Yorkshire skies. Bring sturdy boots and a sense of curiosity.
