The Capstone Theatre is part of Liverpool Hope University’s Creative Campus which opened its doors in 2010. A leading venue for national and international musicians, with a firmly multi-arts approach in its programming and choice of artists, Capstone has featured some of the best local musicians, performance and film, such as King Creosote and Jon Hopkins, Courtney Pine and James Taylor Quartet (JTQ).

The theatre established the annual Liverpool International Jazz Festival (LIJF) which as been running ever since. Every year, the festival spotlights leading international artists in contemporary instrumental jazz in a variety of styles and genres.

Conveniently located on the campus, the Capstone is used for student presentations and spoken word events and lectures. Boasting the very best acoustics in Liverpool, the space lends itself perfectly to music events, as well as different performances, such as contemporary dance and storytelling alongside the more traditional gigs.

The setting for the venue is the multi award-winning Renaissance Garden, Angel Field. With its carefully trimmed hedges, young trees and beautiful flowers, it’s a lovely place to stroll around before attending an event.
