An independent bottle shop and bar on Chapeltown Road known for its regular parties, street food events and open deck sessions, Canned Heat is a must for fans of good beer and music alike. Serving up a wide array of excellent craft beer, soda, soft drinks, and cocktails, you can easily stop in for a quick drink but really you want to come here for one of their parties, or an open deck social.

Born out of a passion for music, art, and community, the bar curates a range of music events throughout the year: both at the shop and at other venues too. From regular street parties to an annual garden party combining street food, drink and music, events showcase local talent and give a platform to emerging and established artists in the area.

Once a year, it hosts a huge three day party as part of Leeds West Indian Carnival, which pays homage to sound system culture and the community that surrounds it. All of the events here include an allocation of community tickets, so that everyone can be involved

Canned Head is also home to a regular Open Deck Social event, a monthly music social focused on sharing the music you’re passionate about with others. Offering the chance to sign up for a 30 minute set on the day, it’s open to all ages, skill sets, and abilities, and created to encourage its community to share music with one another in a comfortable, accessible, and non-judgemental way.

From the fridges, beer lovers can expect to find choices from the likes of Cloudwater, Left Handed Giant, Track, Yonder, and Burning Sky. There’s plenty of low ABV options, too, with Carib lager, ginger and lime shandies, and  fruit flavoured radlers from Schofferhoffer in its popular grapefruit, pineapple, watermelon & mint flavours, as well as rarer varieties – pomegranate, maracuja, kirsche and zitrone, and more.

Beyond the beer, there’s also some tasty natural wines to choose from and a good selection of tinned cocktails, craft sodas and adult soft drinks, with some unique flavours from the likes of Fritz Kola, Jarritos, and Hartwall Gin. A short walk from Chapeltown, Meanwood and Woodhouse, and a 15 minute walk from Leeds city centre, Canned Heat is a Chapeltown must.
