Leeds is something of a haven for vintage clothing, and for those planning to do a spot of shopping in the city Blue Rinse must be flagged as an absolute necessity. Laying claim to the title of Leeds’ oldest vintage shop, it’s a veritable paradise for fans of pre-loved Levi’s, tartan shirts, trinkets, and perfectly preserved pieces from the 70s.

Founded by two local brothers with a love for clothes but no means to buy them, its multi storey shop on Call Lane has acted as a mainstay for vintage lovers in the city for decades before closing and moving to a new unit across the road. Not to be deterred, such is the store’s popularity it now has two sites in the centre of Leeds with a second opened inside the Merrion Centre in Leeds’ Arena Quarter in 2023.

Find more modern reworked and upcycled pieces for sale here

A vintage, used, recycled and reworked clothing company first born in Yorkshire in the late 90s (1997, to be exact), today Blue Rinse operates a chain of successful shops across the UK. What started as a small stall on Leeds Kirkgate Market quickly escalated, and in a testament to their popularity the team now  runs four busy shops across Leeds, Manchester and Cardiff.

Alongside numerous rails of vintage men and women’s clothing, featuring favourite workwear brands like Carharrt and Dickies, you’ll also find more modern reworked and upcycled pieces for sale here including the brand’s famous “Remade in England” collection. Add to this armfuls of cool but affordable vintage ski wear and accessories, jewellery and bags, and it’s fair to say that any self-respecting vintage lover is going to find themselves spoilt for choice.

Lose hours digging away at the treasures in Blue Rinse

Maintaining the quirky, original style on which Blue Rinse first built its reputation, the selection on offer feels just as relevant today as ever – thanks, in part, to a buying team that’s always one step ahead of the latest trends. With an added focus on sustainability, due to their dedication to repurposing and reworking old pieces, you can look good and feel good about the planet too.

An iconic part of Leeds’ vintage fashion scene, lose hours digging away at the treasures in Blue Rinse, and thank us later.
