Get ready for an unforgettable family experience as the National Theatre’s acclaimed production makes its return with a brand-new UK tour. This stunning production of War Horse at The Lowry, based on Michael Morpurgo’s novel, takes audiences on an extraordinary journey from the fields of rural Devon to the trenches of World War I France.

The story follows young Albert and his loyal horse, Joey. As World War I begins, Joey is sold to the Cavalry and shipped off to France, where he becomes caught in the chaos of battle. Despite being too young to enlist, Albert sets off on a daring mission to find his beloved horse and bring him home. This heartwarming tale will have the entire family rooting for Albert and Joey as they navigate a world torn apart by war.

Filled with emotive music, beautiful songs, and joyful inventiveness, War Horse at The Lowry is a magical experience for families, which holds at its core an inspiring story of friendship and courage. It’s powerful and imaginative drama, packed with breathtaking puppetry created by South Africa’s Handspring Puppet Company. Life-sized horses come to life before your eyes – galloping, charging, and even, breathing.
