The excellent weekly Laughienda comedy club has been one of CT’s favourite nights out for months now, playing a key role in turning The Lion’s Den bar into a must-visit destination in Manchester. And this Thursday, 2nd September, it’s celebrating its first birthday, with one of the most impressive line-ups yet.

Smug Roberts, famed for his roles in some of the North’s greatest comedies ever, such as Phoenix Nights and 24 Hour Party People

There’ll be cake, balloons and the promoters’ favourite acts from all over the North West. The headliner is the big draw, featuring no less than Smug Roberts, famed for his roles in some of the North’s greatest comedies ever, such as Phoenix Nights and 24 Hour Party People. Not forgetting that he was discovered by the UK’s undisputed Queen of Comedy, Caroline Aherne, back in the mid-90s.

Hosting the evening will be the rising star of the Liverpool laughter scene, Sam Serrano, and the gig will open with a set by Jack Carroll, Britain’s Got Talent runner up and star of Sky’s Trollied.

The night will also feature the very best up and coming North West talent with performances from Liam Tuffy, Molly McGuinness, Karl Porter, Jack Kelly, Ciaran Mullins, James Crook and Ryan Kenny.

Tickets are a mere £3 in advance, and £5 on the door, but if recent sell-out weeks are anything to go by, it’d make sense to tootle off and buy your tickets now.
