Poo lovers – get ready for the best kind of summer celebration (the stinky and scientific) at Thackray Museum of Medicine, Leeds, during the six-week holidays. Embrace your inner scientist and your inner five-year-old with Poo, Glorious Poo, a disgusting deep-dive into the world of digestion, disease and dung, three of the most fascinating things ever!

Prepare to be fully amazed by the truly universal experience of going to the loo, with a programme full of playful learning and some surprisingly fascinating facts. Ever wondered what the Romans used to wipe? Or where the world’s largest fossilised poo was found? Explore how ancient droppings help us understand health, diet, and even history…

There’s activities for all ages, including outdoor games, interactive science shows, soap-making workshops (very on theme), and backpack trails to guide your exploration. From dung beetles to digestion, this is a family day out that gets to the ‘bottom’ of everything – he he.

You’re in for a treat as Thackray Museum does this sort of thing rather well. Each school holiday, they take on a new medical theme and combine creativity, science, and fun, whether it’s medicine at sea, poisonous plants or toilet training through the ages. It’s thoughtful, informative and just the right amount of bizarre!

Feeling a bit peckish after all that pooping? Visit the cafe, with lots of delicious, healthy, locally sourced family favourites, from sweet treats to sandwiches and pastries.

Want in on the action all year round? Consider grabbing a Family Membership for unlimited entry and front-row seats to future stinky and not-so-stinky adventures.

Thackray is a fully accessible and inclusive venue with wheelchair access, baby changing facilities, Changing Places, toilets, and a warm welcome for guide dogs.
