Adventure awaits with an interactive family-friendly afternoon featuring live orchestral music from How to Train Your DragonPeer Gynt, and Sleeping Beauty alongside a special screening of Magic Light Pictures’ BAFTA winning adaptation of Roald Dahl’s Revolting Rhymes.

The show is part of the College’s Young Explorers series, which is all about introducing kids to orchestral music in a fun and interactive environment. No formalities here, just a relaxed afternoon that keeps everyone – including parents – engaged and entertained.

Tied into the RNCM’s year-long celebration of Legends and Lore, the programme dives into the worlds of classic fairy tales, Norse folklore and modern fantasy. Hear the mischief of Malcolm Arnold’s Tam O’Shanter Overture, the magic of Tchaikovsky’s Sleeping Beauty, and the adventure of Harry Gregson-Williams’ Chronicles of Narnia suite.

John Powell’s soaring How to Train Your Dragon score brings fire-breathing flight to the programme, while excerpts of Grieg’s Peer Gynt (complete with the famous In the Hall of the Mountain King) offers a trip into the mountains of myth. And to top it all off, Roald Dahl’s beloved Revolting Rhymes is brought to life on screen, accompanied by Ben Locket’s score, designed to track every twist of Dahl’s darkly comic narration.

It’s the perfect way to open young ears to the colour and storytelling power of an orchestra.

Part of the RNCM’s Autumn Season.
