The experimental contemporary circus company, Nuua, glide into The Lowry this autumn with a dreamlike and enchanting performance. Blueberry Burdock offers a physically striking and charming exploration of the complexities of everyday life.

Founded in Finland in 2013, the Nuua Company are world-leaders in contemporary circus and physical theatre. The company has been flying high for over 10 years – their award-winning performances have delighted audiences in 20 countries, received notable mentions from critics and been selected for the prestigious circusnext programme. Now, they bring their newest show – Blueberry Burdock – to Salford for one special performance this October.

Directed by Thomas Monckton and performed by Olli Vuorinen, Blueberry Burdock traces the experiences of a character overwhelmed by his life choices. Through a vivid and physical performance style – his day-to-day options, contradictions and inner conflicts spill out into the space around him. A brilliant – and highly entertaining – blend of visual theatre, object manipulation and comedy, Blueberry Burdock is a playful and relatable performance about human experience and the everyday conundrums we face.

Blueberry Burdock offers a physically striking and charming exploration of the complexities of everyday life.

Perceptive and poetical, Blueberry Burdock first premiered at the Stoa Cultural Centre, Helsinki in October 2023. Running at just 50 minutes long – without any spoken word – we love that circus shows like this can transcend communication barriers and fully fire up the realms of our imagination.

Sit back and marvel at the spectacle.
