The Science and Industry Museum is celebrating Manchester’s Pride Weekend with a diverse programme of activities, performances and exhibitions taking place over a special, adults-only evening.

Join Heard Storytelling and hear from LGBTQ+ professionals working in STEM as they share their own journeys, reminding us of the power of storytelling. As you’re listening, explore a captivating display of objects that bring a visual element to the stories unfolding. Also immerse yourself in PROUD, an inspiring audio-visual exhibition created by Heard Storytelling that similarly tells the stories of LGBTQIA+ people who live or work in the city.

If you’re feeling creative, you can contribute to a community craft project inspired by the museum’s textiles collection and the colourful traditions of the LGBTQ+ social movement. You’re invited to put your own mark on a bespoke banner that will be proudly carried by the Science and Industry Museum team during the Manchester Pride parade.

And of course while you’re at the museum, you can also explore the permanent collection, including the Revolution Manchester gallery, where you’ll find out more about LGBTQ+ icon Alan Turing, his relationship to the city, and his contribution to the history of modern computing. Included in the ticket price, you can also play your way through 50 years of video games in Power Up, and explore the new exhibition, Injecting Hope: The race for a COVID-19 vaccine.

Theatre in the North

This season’s theatre is gloriously eclectic: from radical cabaret and reinvented classics to new musicals and boundary-pushing performance.
