The Hallé is one of Manchester’s oldest and most prestigious cultural institutions. As you can imagine, a legacy this lengthy and rich comes with quite a hefty archive of materials which have since been digitised or no longer work. This is why it’s so brilliant to see them doing something totally different and refreshingly creative with the archival objects which are no longer fit for purpose. Join them for Hallé art club, a series of workshops at St. Peter’s, where these materials will be turned into stunning artworks for you to take home.

Art is fundamentally good for our minds. It’s been proven time and time again and only needs to be put to the test by getting hands on with a creative project. In these sessions you’ll be helped by expert artists and facilitators who’ll share their areas of expertise to help you design and create something you can truly be proud of.

It’s a space to relax and unwind, with refreshments included in the ticket price and a certain amount of discounted tickets available to Ancoats residents, expect a highly sociable creative time.

In the first workshop you can enjoy mindful painting and collage with Caroline Dowsett. The workshop will be accompanied by live music from members of the Orchestra. Allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the experience and enjoy some blissful escapism from the outside world.

The second workshop will see Studio Dawn making use of damaged vinyl records to create unique Terrazzo drinks coasters. We love the idea of taking artistic artefacts and repurposing them into something entirely different yet strikingly beautiful. The Terrazzo technique in itself is somewhat of a historical artefact and well worth learning to create some bespoke home decor.

All materials for Hallé Art Club are provided and no previous experience is required so why not let yourself be immersed in the making, painting, listening and creating.
