Does your family’s idea of fun involve a good scare in an awesome house and estate? Temple Newsam has just the thing this October. Just in time for Halloween, families are invited to step into one of Yorkshire’s most haunted houses for the Ghosts of Temple Newsam Tour, a chilling journey through centuries of strange, unexplained sightings and noises.

This grand house was once home to Lord Halifax, who was so enthralled by the paranormal activity that he wrote an entire book about it. Wander through the echoing halls, listen to tales of terror and keep an eye out for the infamous Blue Lady.

Once you’ve survived the spook-fest, ground yourself at the Home Farm, where life is considerably less ghostly (unless you count the ghost of a forgotten tractor). Meet some of the rarest farm animals in Europe – vaynol cows, middle white pigs and more, and, if it’s open, let the kids loose in the brand-new Play Barn.

The estate is packed with fresh-air adventures like serene lakeside trails, lush gardens, and idyllic picnic spots. Or, if walking isn’t your thing, sit in the Tea Rooms and congratulate yourself on surviving the haunted house while indulging in delicious cake.

Don’t forget to let the kids burn off energy in the adventure playground or try one of the nature trails. And if you’re feeling ambitious, challenge them to count all the dogs in the paintings inside the house.

Ghosts, gardens, rare animals, and cake – Temple Newsam has it all! Just watch out in case the Blue Lady follows you home!
