Mark International Women’s Day 2024 with a heady blend of circus, cabaret and female empowerment. Glamour meets liberation for Ember’s International Women’s Day Special, an adults-only evening of celebration and first-class entertainment.

On the actual day itself – conveniently falling on a Friday this year – Ember Travixen brings her special spin on the ‘Ember & the Vixens’ cabaret to Cultplex as part of GRUB Mcr’s Lass Fest.

Leaning more into the entrancing world of circus than ever before, the latest edition of Selina Helliwell’s stunning show will transform the small cinema space into a lavish and intimate cabaret-style theatre. As usual, you can expect a night filled with captivating burlesque, mesmerising music, hypnotic circus and more than a few surprises, from a super-talented all-female troupe.

As always, Ember Travixen will be taking to the stage alongside the incredible multi-hoop act Danielle De La Wonk, classical showgirl Miss Cocoa Amore and the outrageous burlesque artist Ms Lavender Menace. Meanwhile, versatile performer Saskia Pay will delight with her feisty female-focused spoken word and musician Bastette brings a spirited soundtrack.

Created by the multi-award-winning theatre maker Selina Helliwell, Ember & the Vixens have built a loyal following and enjoyed a string of sell-out shows. The company have experienced huge success with their previous burlesque takeovers of Manchester Art Gallery – most recently, with their Christmas show ‘Festive Foxes’. They’ve also presented a ‘Belated Birthday Special’ cabaret and a Halloween-themed ‘Creepy Cabaret’ to thrilled audiences across the city. Now, we’re geared up for Ember’s International Women’s Day Special – an exquisite evening of entertainment to celebrate the achievements of women in Manchester and beyond.

The image depicts a man at the centre with grey hair and rosy cheeks, surrounding him are fairies that appear to be created in his own image with multiple limbs and unique bodily proportions. Around them are hundreds of vials, microscopes and dated scientific equipment.
