Scheduled for Windrush Day, this Sunday 22 January, HOME present an exclusive screening of documentary In Those Days, more than twenty years on from its creation.

This previously unreleased doc explores the experiences of the first wave of Afro-Caribbean immigrants who arrived in the UK to help fill in the labour shortage in post-World War II Britain. Featuring interviews and first hand testimony, In Those Days charts their arrival in the UK, their experience of building a life here, but also their memories of the home they left behind.

The doc is presented by Don Letts, the Grammy Award-winning filmmaker, DJ and radio broadcaster, who can currently be heard as the host of BBC 6 Music’s Culture Clash Radio.

Seventy seven years to the day since the HMT Empire Windrush arrived at Tilbury Docks in Essex on 22 June 1948, Letts will be on hand to answer your questions on the making of the film, and this essential moment in modern British history, at HOME’s special event screening.
