This spring get ready for a horrifying, heartwarming family adventure at the live-stage adaptation of David Walliam’s hilarious Awful Auntie at the Manchester Opera House, taking place from 18-21 April 2024.

The main protagonist Stella is visiting London with her parents, unaware that her life is about to take a dangerously dark turn. Three months later, Stella wakes up. She’s been in a coma and can’t remember a thing! Stella learns that her Aunt Alberta is the key to understanding what has happened, but soon realises that not everything Aunt Alberta says true! Can Stella trust her Auntie? What does Aunt Alberta really want?

Audiences are invited on a perilous journey with Stella as the gripping battle between auntie and niece begins, and the evil Aunt Alberta tries to cheat Stella out of her inheritance, while Stella finds support in an unlikely friend…

Children and grownups alike will be captivated by this memorable theatrical gem which offers a delightful mix of suspense, humour, and genuine emotion, with belly-laughs guaranteed. Awful Auntie at the Manchester Opera House is recommended for ages 8 and up.

“Awful Auntie Live on Stage is a triumphant adaption of David Walliams’ much loved book. It has been cleverly adapted and directed and is great entertainment!”
What’s Good To Do

“Brought to us by the BSC, the company that produced the award-winning Gangsta Granny, this latest offering is just as exciting and terrifying as the book and has all the hallmarks of another huge dramatic hit. Awful Auntie is both thrilling and disturbing, heart-warming and memorable – a real gem of a play and definitely one to catch!”
What’s On Live

Awful Auntie is perfectly brilliant and the entire audience was absolutely captivated. A fantastic set fit for the West End, oodles of humour, some weird and wonderful capers and a star cast who relate the complex and rapid story extraordinarily well – it’s a sure-fire winner!”
