It is the Portico library‘s current collection, ENTWINED: Knowledge & Power in the age of Captain Cook, that will be explored in this tour as part of the 2018 Asia Triennial. Join artist and former Portico exhibitor Saima Rasheed as she takes you through the collection of artefacts compiled throughout the colonial period. The Exhibit reflects a complicated relationship shared between Britain and Asia during the 19th century. Asia Triennial Manchester, is a festival of contemporary visual art created around the theme of Asia. It celebrates identity and the multicultural landscape of Manchester both in the 21st century and previous generations.

The Portico Library is a gem of history within the bustling city centre. Still housed in its original purpose built space on Mosley Street, the Library hosts a range of talks exhibitions and events. As a previously members only library, it contains a unique collection of books, illustrations and archives spanning over 450 years.
